Recovery of Emblematic Tango Sheet Music

In Tango Sin Fin we noticed that one of the main difficulties musicians from Argentina and from all around the world face when playing tango music is getting professionally published and edited tango sheet music of emblematic tunes. This has to do, partially, with the fact that after the “golden era” of tango music, in which the commercialization of sheet music and orchestral arrangements was an established practice, the professional edition and publishing of music had no commercial value anymore and the spread of these works ceased.

As a non-profit organization, we carry out several projects dedicated to the edition and publishing of music, including the Método de Tango book series, the first one entirely dedicated to teaching tango music, and the edition and publishing of free sheet music albums and Argentine music handbooks in PDF format, authored by some of the most renowned musicians of today.

Declared of Cultural Interest project in Argentina and Supported by SADAIC

For the publishing of these last project we had to go through several legal obstacles, and after several years of meetings and presentations, we were able to get our project Declared of Cultural Interest by the Buenos Aires City Government and supported by SADAIC, the Argentine association in charge of administering musicians’ intellectual property. This allowed us to proceed with this important project of RECOVERY OF EMBLEMATIC TANGO SHEET MUSIC to be widely spread around the world.

Argentina is currently in one of the worst crises of the last 20 years and the cultural sector is affected at a worrying level. The tools for obtaining funds for the development of projects that have no commercial purpose are practically non-existent.

It is our desire to continue developing this project which will benefit thousands of music students, professionals and amateurs from all around the world. This is why we need your help.

Legal processing to receive a formal authorization to freely distribute these works to be spread internationally.
Commission of arrangements, transcriptions and recovery of emblematic orchestrations to renowned Argentine tango musicians.
Professional musical and editorial revision of the sheet music.
Layout design for publishing and downloading.
Selection and publishing of audio recordings of the selected works.
Promotion and distribution of material in music universities from all around the world.

We hope we can count on your support to keep developing this enormous work of promoting our wonderful tango music, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Your contribution will help perpetuate a tradition with a hundred years old history, driving its evolution towards the future.
